Love letters from my son
Posted October 6, 2010on:
Yesterday on Twitter, there was a lot of chirp about love letters. Tweep Lola Sharp (she of the awesome shoes) said this:
There is nothing more romantic than a handwritten love letter from someone you love. *swoon*
That got me thinking. The best love letters I’ve ever received came from son #1 (which indicates birth order, not preference *grins*). With his permission, some blackmail negotiating, I am sharing them here, complete with naked baby pictures to make the embarrassment complete.
Before we get to the good stuff, let me warn you now… my son and I like to tease each other, often mercilessly. You may find it amusing to also follow him, @robblount, as well as me on Twitter.
I just want to thank you for all the wonderful things you do and all the things you have given me through the years… like my crappy handwriting. But more importantly, you’ve helped me to be strong. I’m 18 now but six years ago, I honestly didn’t know if I’d make it this long. But I have and it’s because of you. So I thank you again. Happy Mother’s Day, Mom. Love ya.
*wipes tears from eyes* Here, he refers to a dark time in his life when he was bullied.
This one was from the year prior:
Mom, you are the greatest life form on this planet. (*I already knew this, of course, but it was nice to hear.*) You have made me what I am. You have given me so much. I thank you for everything…
The day I ‘met’ you was the happiest I’ve ever been. You have been a source of much joy, amusement, pride and comfort ever since. You have also been expensive! And exasperating. Like when you hug me after a hockey game. Ewwww. And are we past the Mohawk phase now? But for the most part, you’re awfully cute. Except when you’re demanding a sandwich. I love you forever.
|This is the day we took you home and it hit me… you were my baby.|
|Naked baby pictures!|
|I couldn’t find pictures of you stuck in the toybox. I think they may be on video
tape. So, here’s one in the laundry basket instead.
